Setting Up the Camera in PEAK
-
Install Drivers
- Run the PEAK and camera driver installer (http://link.trackman.dk/idspeakdriver)
- Choose the Typical setup during installation.
- A reboot may be required at the end.
-
Open up Peak
- Launch the PEAK software.
- If the camera window doesn’t appear automatically, click the camera icon in the top left.
-
Access Camera Settings
- You are now in the camera interface where settings like FPS, gamma, exposure, and resolution can be adjusted.
- We’ll focus only on a few key options along the left side.
- Now you’re in the camera interface where we mess with the FPS, gamma, exposure, resolution, all that stuff. We’re only going to be concerned with a few options along the left side:
-
Auto-Adjust Image
- Click the icon (similar to the Pittsburgh Steelers logo) circled in red in the guide.
- This runs an automatic adjustment to estimate good settings.
- It usually works well, but we’ll fine-tune further with the options marked in green.
-
Position and Size
- In the top green section, adjust the resolution.
- A common setting is 1440x1080, but TPS will crop its own square regardless, so exact resolution is not critical.
-
Brightness / Framerate
- In the next green section, adjust Exposure Time and Frame Rate.
- Aim for:
- FPS ≈ 120
- Exposure between 3–9
- Don’t worry if the image still looks dark—we’ll fix that in the Gamma setting later.
-
Color
- In the section with the palette icon, adjust Red, Green, and Blue levels if needed.
-
Pause the Live Feed
- Before saving your configuration, click the camera button to pause the live picture.
- Before saving your configuration, click the camera button to pause the live picture.
-
Save Camera Profile
- Click the Save/Load camera parameters button (disk icon in green).
- In the new window, select Save to store your profile.
- Click the Save/Load camera parameters button (disk icon in green).
-
Save the Profile with the Correct Name
- Browse to: C:\ProgramData\TrackMan\VMSConfig\UEyeProfiles
- Name the file exactly as follows: U3-3060CP-C-HQ-Rev.2.2_view.cset
- Naming rules:
- The file name must include the full model number of the camera, including its revision number.
- Replace “view” with the appropriate camera position (e.g., DTL, RFO, LFO, etc.).
- The file must end with the .cset extension.
- Check the Default file in this folder to confirm the correct naming format.
-
Finish Setup
- Close the PEAK software.
- Open TPS.
- The IDS camera should now appear in TPS, where you can rename it and assign it to the profile file you just created.
