To calculate the Order of Merit (OOM) scores in a Trackman Tournament we must first know how many players have competed in the tournament round. Once we have the number of players we can then use the Excel spreadsheet attached below to calculate the number of points which will be assigned to each player.
By changing the B4 cell to adjust the number of players in the round we can see the breakdown of points for the Order of Merit (OOM) round.
How are the maximum amount of points calculated?
The maximum amount of points is either determined by default in relation to the amount of players participating. See logic below:
- 1-100 Players: Winner receives 100 points
- 101-200 players: Winner receives 200 points
- 201-300 players: Winner receives 300 points
...
How are the rest of the points calculated?
The rest of the points follow a logarithmic distribution until 1. This logarithmic distribution is calculated for every tenth player. That means that if 14 players are playing in a tournament, the logarithmic distribution will run from a maximum of a 100 points for the player in first position, to 1 point for the number 20 (14 is rounded up to the next tenth player being 20 players).
The point distribution is then as follows:
- 1st: 100 points
- 2nd: 77 points
- 3rd: 64 points
- 4th: 54 points
- 5th: 47 points
- 6th: 41 points
- 7th: 36 points
- 8th: 31 points
- 9th: 27 points
- 10th: 24 points
- 11th: 21 points
- 12th: 18 points
- 13th: 15 points
- 14th: 13 points
This point distribution is fixed after the first round. If more players join in later rounds the distribution will continue:
- 15th: 11 points
- 16th: 8 points
- 17th: 6 points
- 18th: 4 points
- 19th: 3 points
- 20th: 1 points
Any potential position after 20th will also receive 1 point.
As mentioned attached below is the Excel you can use to calculate the logarithmic distribution.
