General | How to Charge a Customer ⛳

You can use the charger to collect a full or partial payment from a customer. The payment methods you see in the charger are the ones configured in the Payment section of Settings.

  1. Open the charger. It opens on the Charge tab.
  2. Check the amount. The remaining amount is selected by default. To charge only part of it, tap the pencil icon next to the amount and enter the amount you want to charge.
  3. Under Select Payment Method, select how the customer wants to pay.
  4. Complete any additional steps required for the selected payment method, such as selecting a terminal, entering the cash received, or setting a payment link expiry.
  5. Tap Charge.

When the purchase is fully paid, the charger closes automatically. If there is still an amount remaining, the charger stays open so you can take another payment.

Note: You cannot tap Charge when the amount is 0, no payment method is selected, or an Adyen terminal payment for the purchase is still waiting on the terminal.

Adyen Terminal

Use this option when the customer is paying by card using a POS terminal.

  1. Select the Adyen terminal payment method.
  2. Under Send to terminal, select the device you want to use.
  3. Tap Charge. The amount is sent to the selected terminal.

The last terminal you used on this computer is selected automatically the next time you use a terminal payment.

If the customer leaves or the terminal fails, go to Transactions, select the payment that is still waiting, and tap Cancel.

Note: You cannot start another Adyen terminal payment for the same purchase until the current payment is completed or cancelled.

Cash/Cash (with draw)

Use this option when the customer is paying with cash.

  1. Select Cash.
  2. Under Cash received, select the bill the customer handed over, or select Other and enter the amount manually.
  3. Check the Change amount shown below the bills.
  4. Tap Charge.

If a cash drawer is connected to the till, it may open automatically when you charge the customer.

Adyen Link

Use a payment link when you want the customer to complete the payment on their own device.

  1. Select Payment link.
  2. Set Link expires in (days).
  3. Tap Charge.
  4. Show the QR code to the customer, copy the payment link, or enter their email address and tap Send.

For a named customer, their email address is prefilled automatically.

A payment link remains Awaiting until the customer completes the payment.

To resend or delete a payment link:

  1. Open Transactions.
  2. Select the payment.
  3. Tap Options.

YGB Balance

Balance is available only for named customers, not walk-in customers.

The available balance is shown on the Balance payment tile. When you charge the customer, the payment amount is deducted from their venue balance.
