Recording your rounds is mandatory when playing in NEXT Golf Tour – both for ruling purposes and score verification, but also so NEXT can create content covering the tournament, including results, highlight reels, and player profiles.
Video recordings are made and automatically uploaded through the NEXT Recorder app, which is available in App Store and Google Play.
The NEXT Recorder app will guide you through the setup step-by-step, but if you still have questions, this article provides a comprehensive guide on how to record your tournament rounds through the app, how to position your camera, and other tips.
How Much Storage Space Do I Need?
Before you start playing, you should check your internet connection. If the internet connection is good, the storage space requirement for the phone is low, as the videos will be uploaded continuously while you play. This means the videos are deleted from the phone’s storage, as soon as they are uploaded by the NEXT Recorder app.
If you have a poor internet connection, we recommend to free up 2 GB of storage space.
Positioning The Camera
- Recordings of a round should be done in vertical orientation.
- Position the camera behind the hitting area so that your entire body/swing and the screen can be seen (see image below). Typically, this means positioning the camera in line with the Trackman unit in your simulator.
- Make sure you can see the impact screen clearly in the recording – if necessary, ask the facility to increase the brightness of the projector.
- We recommend using a tripod to keep the recording angle the same during the entire round.
Additional Tips & Tricks
Make sure you put your device on “Do not Disturb” mode. This ensures that your recording will not be disrupted by phone calls or other notifications, resulting in incomplete videos and a headache.
A full round of 18 holes typically takes 30-40 minutes per person, so use a fully charged phone to ensure it does not run out of power mid-swing.
