General | How to Setup a Receipt Printer

  • Updated

This guide isn't for use with a USB-only cash drawer, but instead intended for those with an RJ11 cable

Overview

This guide shows how to configure a receipt printer so that the connected cash drawer automatically opens when a receipt is printed.

✅ Use YGB on a tablet (Android/iOS) instead of a computer (which means a USB cash drawer can’t be connected directly).
✅ Want a semi-wireless setup, where the printer triggers the cash drawer to open.

Requirements

  • A networked receipt printer (e.g. POS-80 - our recommended printer).
  • A cash drawer connected to the printer via an RJ11 cable.
  • A Windows computer (for initial configuration).
  • The Printer Setting Tools software.

📥 Download Printer Setting Tools: Click here to download

If you see the below prompt when downloading the Printer - Setting Tools, click 'More info':

Step 1: Connect the Printer and Cash Drawer

Plug the cash drawer’s RJ11 cable into the printer’s cash drawer port.

Step 2: Configure Printer Settings on Windows

  1. Download and install the Printer Setting Tools from the link above.
  2. Open the software and select the correct Printer Type (e.g., POS-80).
  3. In the Port Select section, choose NET and enter the printer’s IP address (if you don't know this, please contact the person responsible for setting up your network in your business).
    • Click Connect to establish communication with the printer.
  4. Select USB if the printer is connected via this method.

If you have our recommended USB printer then you can connect this directly into the computer and the cash drawer will open when you select the Cash (with draw) charge type.

Step 3: Enable Cash Drawer Trigger

  1. Click the Advanced button in the Printer - Settings Tool.
  2. Locate the "Cutter With Cash Drawer" option.
  3. Set this to ON (as shown in the first image).
  4. Click Set to save the configuration.

Step 4: Test the Cash Drawer

  1. In the Printer Test Tool, click "Open Cash Drawer".
  2. If the drawer opens successfully, proceed to Step 5.
  3. If not, check that:
    • The RJ11 cable is securely plugged in.
    • The printer and cash drawer are compatible.

Step 5: Connect YGB on Your Tablet

Print a test receipt from the YGB app – the cash drawer should automatically open.

If the cash drawer doesn’t open, repeat Step 3 and ensure settings are saved.
With this setup, the cash drawer will now automatically open whenever a receipt is printed from Your Golf Booking on a tablet. 🎉
