TMiO | How To Do A Paperclip Reset

  • Updated

A paperclip reset is a physical method to reset your TMiO radar using a paperclip. This type of reset can help resolve specific hardware and software issues while still affecting your saved settings as the factory default.

It's a handy troubleshooting step if your radar isn't functioning correctly. This procedure is performed through the small port located on the power button, in front of the unit

Only perform a paperclip reset if instructed by a Trackman Support agent or if you are getting a red light on your Trackman unit. Please also note that you will need a calibration board to start the iO unit again after a paperclip reset.

How To Do A Paperclip Reset On A TMiO

  1.  Prepare the TMiO Unit:
    • Power on the TMiO unit and wait for the light on the front to turn solid green.
  2. Prepare the Paperclip:
    • Unravel the Paperclip: While the unit is powering on, take a paperclip and unravel one of its sections
  3. Access the Reset hole:
    • Once the light on the TMiO is solid green, try to reach the mounted TMiO unit as close as possible.
    • You will see a small hole between the camera and the power button.

  4. Insert the Paperclip:
    • Carefully insert the unraveled paperclip into the hole. Apply minimal pressure and hold it in place for 5 seconds.
    • The light on the front of the unit will flash off, indicating the reset process has started
  5. Confirm the Reset
    • Wait for the Restart: The TMiO unit should automatically restart itself. The light will turn back on and start to pulsate green, and eventually become solid green again.
    • Reset Complete: Once the light is solid green again, the paperclip reset is complete.
