In this article, we will walk you through the steps to calibrate an external camera using the Trackman Performance Studio.
If TPS is running in Public Mode, make sure you are signed with the admin email of the facility.
Step 1: Enter Shot Analysis
Start by entering Shot Analysis and starting a session.
Step 2: Access Camera Calibration
Go to the Cameras option at the top right of the screen and select Calibrate Cameras.
Note, there needs to be a removal of white resolution while calibrating. For example, white shoes, white lighting on walls, white lighting on overhead ball layout, etc. Also, if you are having trouble calibrating for the first time, click "Continue Calibration," to successfully calibrate all cameras.
Step 3: Prepare the Hitting Area
Ensure that only one golf ball is being used while calibrating the camera, and that the hitting area is clean so the camera isn't picking up other objects.
Make sure the overhead lighting is not flashing at a high residual on the mat as this can confuse the camera.
Step 4: Place Golf Balls in the Square Boxes
A square box will appear in the hitting area. Place a golf ball in that square. A blue check mark will appear when that square is done. Repeat this process for the other three square boxes.
If the camera isn't picking up a ball, try to take the ball completely out of the visual and place it back into the designated square.
If it still isn't picking it up, try to use a non-white golf ball.
Step 5: Complete the Calibration
After the fourth box is complete, a message will pop up letting you know that the calibration is done.
Step 6: Verify the Calibration
Here you can see that the camera on the left is the one we calibrated. This calibration allows for the club path, face angle, and the target line to be accurately shown.
