When a Trackman unit is connected via a USB adapter, power-saving settings can cause unexpected disconnections. To ensure a stable connection, it’s important to disable USB power-saving features in Windows.
Follow the steps below to turn off USB power saving.
Disable USB Adapter Power Saving Settings
- Open Device Manager
- Right-click the Start button.
- Select "Device Manager" from the menu.
- Expand USB Controllers
- In Device Manager, scroll down and expand the section labeled "Universal Serial Bus controllers".
- Access USB Root Hub Properties
- Locate a device named USB Root Hub (or similar, such as Generic USB Hub).
- Right-click it and select "Properties"
- Disable Power Saving
- In the Properties window, go to "Power Management"
- Uncheck the box labeled "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
- Repeat for All USB Hubs
- Repeat the steps above for each USB Root Hub or Generic USB Hub listed under "Universal Serial Bus controllers"
