General | How to Disable USB Adapter Power Saving Settings

When a Trackman unit is connected via a USB adapter, power-saving settings can cause unexpected disconnections. To ensure a stable connection, it’s important to disable USB power-saving features in Windows.

Follow the steps below to turn off USB power saving.

Disable USB Adapter Power Saving Settings

  1. Open Device Manager
    • Right-click the Start button.
    • Select "Device Manager" from the menu.
  2. Expand USB Controllers
    • In Device Manager, scroll down and expand the section labeled "Universal Serial Bus controllers".
  3. Access USB Root Hub Properties
    • Locate a device named USB Root Hub (or similar, such as Generic USB Hub).
    • Right-click it and select "Properties"
  4. Disable Power Saving
    • In the Properties window, go to "Power Management"
    • Uncheck the box labeled "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
  5. Repeat for All USB Hubs
    • Repeat the steps above for each USB Root Hub or Generic USB Hub listed under "Universal Serial Bus controllers"
