General | Avoiding Antivirus Software When Using TPS

Antivirus software is designed to protect PCs from malware. However, in Trackman systems, it often causes more harm than good. This article explains why antivirus can interfere with Trackman Performance Studio (TPS) and why we recommend not using it.

Avoid Antivirus Software and TPS

Antivirus is a background program that scans files and network activity to block threats. It often includes firewalls and real-time scanning features.

You should not install antivirus software on PCs running Trackman Performance Studio. TPS is a trusted application and does not require additional antivirus protection when used on a dedicated system. The built-in Windows Defender already provides basic protection, and avoids a third-party antivirus program interfering.

If you have an antivirus software it can interfere with TPS in the following ways:

  • Slows Down Performance: Real-time scanning can delay or block TPS processes.
  • Blocks Network Access: Firewalls may prevent TPS from connecting to servers or uploading data.
  • Flags Safe Files: TPS files may be wrongly identified as threats and quarantined.
  • Interrupts Updates: Antivirus can block or corrupt TPS software updates.

Already have an antivirus software?

  • Uninstall it completely to avoid conflicts.
  • Restart the PC after removal.
  • Reinstall TPS if issues persist.
