Projector | Not Detected/Black Screen

  • Updated

If your projector isn’t showing anything or isn’t detected by Windows, follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue. Make sure TPS is closed before starting.

Troubleshoot Projector Not Detected

  1. Check the HDMI Cable and Connections
    • Unplug and replug the HDMI (or DisplayPort) cable at both the PC and projector ends.
    • If you're using a directional HDMI cable, make sure:
      • The Input end is connected to the PC.
      • The Output end is connected to the projector.
  2. Detect the Display in Windows
    • Right-click the "Windows icon" > "Settings" > "Display".
    • Scroll to "Multiple Displays" and click "Detect".
    • If the projector still doesn’t show up, we’ll dig deeper.
  3. Check Device Manager
    • Press "Windows + X" > choose "Device Manager".
    • Expand the Monitors section.
    • If the projector is listed, it’s being recognized - check display settings again.
    • If not, continue to the next step.
  4. Use NVIDIA Control Panel
    • Open NVIDIA Control Panel (search for it in the Start menu).
    • Go to "Set Up Multiple Displays".
      • If the projector is listed but not checked, check the box to enable it.
      • If it’s not listed at all, we may still be dealing with a connection issue.
  5. Restart and Reconnect
    • Power off both the PC and the projector.
    • Wait 10 seconds, then power them back on.
    • Reconnect the HDMI cable and check again in "Display Settings" and NVIDIA Control Panel.

Tip: If the projector still isn’t detected, try connecting it to another PC to rule out hardware issues.
