If your projector isn’t showing anything or isn’t detected by Windows, follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue. Make sure TPS is closed before starting.
Troubleshoot Projector Not Detected
- Check the HDMI Cable and Connections
- Unplug and replug the HDMI (or DisplayPort) cable at both the PC and projector ends.
- If you're using a directional HDMI cable, make sure:
- The Input end is connected to the PC.
- The Output end is connected to the projector.
- Detect the Display in Windows
- Right-click the "Windows icon" > "Settings" > "Display".
- Scroll to "Multiple Displays" and click "Detect".
- If the projector still doesn’t show up, we’ll dig deeper.
- Check Device Manager
- Press "Windows + X" > choose "Device Manager".
- Expand the Monitors section.
- If the projector is listed, it’s being recognized - check display settings again.
- If not, continue to the next step.
- Use NVIDIA Control Panel
- Open NVIDIA Control Panel (search for it in the Start menu).
- Go to "Set Up Multiple Displays".
- If the projector is listed but not checked, check the box to enable it.
- If it’s not listed at all, we may still be dealing with a connection issue.
- Restart and Reconnect
- Power off both the PC and the projector.
- Wait 10 seconds, then power them back on.
- Reconnect the HDMI cable and check again in "Display Settings" and NVIDIA Control Panel.
Tip: If the projector still isn’t detected, try connecting it to another PC to rule out hardware issues.
