Smash Factor (Tee to Green)
- Definition
- The ratio between the measured Ball Speed and Club Speed.
- Smash Factor relates to the amount of energy transferred from the club head to the golf ball.
- The Use of Smash Factor
- Smash Factor indicates the player’s ability to create Ball Speed from Club Speed.
- A low Smash Factor could indicate that the player does not efficiently transfer Club Speed into Ball Speed.
- Multiple factors play a role in the energy transfer, such as impact location, Dynamic Loft, weight of the club compared to the ball and more.
- A general rule of thumb is that the higher the loft of the club, the lower the smash factor is expected to be.
- A driver should ideally have a Smash Factor of 1.5.
