Height (Apex)
- Definition
- The maximum Height or Apex of the trajectory measured relative to the elevation at which the golf ball was launched.
- The Use of Height
- Height is useful to look at when optimizing Carry and Landing Angle.
- For example, a PGA Tour player with a 6-iron Ball Speed of 130 mph should aim to attain a Height of 34 yards, as this combination will produce a trajectory optimized for Carry and Landing Angle.
- The Height of a shot will vary considerably depending on the combination of Ball Speed, Launch Angle, and Spin Rate.
