Bounces (Putting)

  • Definition
    • The number of Bounces on the ground during the skid phase.
    • That is, how many times the ball bounces until it starts to roll.
  • The Use of Bounces
    • Bounces is useful when improving and increasing the consistency and accuracy of the roll of a putt.
    • Generally, players want the ball to roll as much as possible (high Roll %), when putting, to increase consistency and speed control.
    • Fewer Bounces during the skid phase would indicate that the ball rolls sooner, which generally leads to more consistent putts and speed control.
