Effective Stimp (Putting)
- Definition
- The green’s speed of the individual putt, based on the average roll deceleration.
- The Use of Effective Stimp
- Effective Stimp is a great tool to help you calibrate the speed of the given putt, as it measures the green speed on the actual putt.
- It is useful in being able to understand how the slope can affect the speed of the ball.
- Not all greens a flat, a downhill putt will have a higher effective stimp than the Flat Stimp number shown.
- The opposite applies for uphill putts.
- This means that a golfer would need to adapt their read and ball speed to accommodate the change in stimp.
