Settings | Disabling Windows Fast Startup

Disabling Windows Fast Startup can prevent CPU state retention and TMIO slowdown.

Why disable Windows Fast Startup?

Windows Fast Startup is a feature that speeds up boot time by using a hybrid shutdown (partial hibernation). Instead of fully turning off, the system saves the kernel and driver state to disk, then restores it on the next boot. For Trackman systems, this can cause issues: The CPU never fully resets, which can lead to reduced performance over time.

TMIO processes may run slower or fail to initialize correctly. Hardware changes or driver updates may not be applied until a real shutdown occurs.

Recommendation

  1. Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do.
  2. Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
  3. Under Shutdown settings, uncheck "Turn on fast startup (recommended)".
  4. Save changes and restart your PC.
    • This ensures every shutdown fully resets the CPU and clears hardware states, improving TMIO stability and performance.
