Spin Index (Tee to Green)
- Definition
- The ratio between the measured Spin Rate and the Expected Spin Rate.
- Spin Index assesses whether the spin rate of the ball aligns with the ideal value for a given shot, offering insights into the shot’s spin potential. In simple words, did you get the Spin Rate that you were supposed to?
- Expected Spin Rate assumes the ball achieves full rolling against the club face without gear effect interference and is calculated for a premium ball.
- The Use of Spin Index
- We all want to hit high-spin wedges that stop on a dime, but spin can hurt the longer game. Knowing how much spin you “should” get has always been a guessing game—until now. Spin Index gives you a clear answer.
- Spin Index measures how much spin you actually generated compared to what’s expected of the shots, based on the club delivery.
- A Spin Index of 100% means you got the exact spin you should have.
- Anything below 100% means you lost spin (often due to poor contact, moisture, grass interference but also hitting it high on a driver).
- Anything above 100% means you generated extra spin (thanks to high friction, clean grooves, or gear effect on driver by hitting it lower on the face).
