Error Messages | Searching for Satellites

If you see the message “Searching for satellites” on your Trackman 4, this is expected behavior and not an error.

This message is related to the built-in GPS functionality of the TM4 and typically appears when the unit is used indoors or in locations without access to GPS satellites.

Why Does It Appear?

Trackman 4 includes an internal GPS module. This GPS is used for:

  • Geo-tagging outdoor sessions
  • Tracking the device’s location outdoors
  • Security purposes, such as helping locate the unit if it is stolen

When the TM4 is placed indoors, underground, or in an environment where it cannot receive a GPS signal, the unit will show the message: “Searching for satellites”.

This simply means the TM4 is attempting to establish a GPS connection but cannot currently see enough satellites.
