In this article, you will find a detailed explanation of what the Standard Deviation (+/-) row means and why it is essential for analyzing your shots to improve your performance.
Please note, that these values are for illustrative purposes only and should not be used as a benchmark for performance quality.
Definition of Standard Deviation
It measures the typical difference between the individual shots and the average, it means that while the average shows how the player normally hit the shot, the standard deviation show how consistent the player is hitting according to the average.
This row complements the Average by providing a specific range for the data. To determine this range, you simply add and subtract the +/- value from the Average. Most of the shots from the session will fall within these two numbers.
This data row is activated by clicking the "+/-" button at the top of the interface. Once selected, a row will appear at the bottom of the data set. Only the specific shots selected on the left-hand side will be factored into the final average calculation.
The Use of Standard Deviation
- It identifies how predictably a player can produce a shot. A low value means the technique is stable and predictable, while a high value indicates the technique is more variable.
- It allows to see which specific metrics are already consistent and which ones require more work to be stabilized. By isolating these variables, practice can be prioritized for the areas of the game that need the most attention.
