Windows | How to Change the Screen Orientation Settings

Changing the screen orientation in Windows can be helpful when your display appears rotated incorrectly or when using devices such as tablets or 2-in-1 laptops that support multiple viewing modes.

Change Screen Orientation from Settings

Follow these steps to adjust your screen orientation through Windows Settings:

  1. Open Settings
    • Press Windows Key + I
  2. Access Display Settings
    • Click "System"
    • Select "Display"
  3. Change Screen Orientation
    • Scroll down to find "Display orientation"
    • Select one of the following options:  
      • Landscape (default)
      • Portrait
      • Landscape (flipped)
      • Portrait (flipped)
  4. Confirm the Change
    • Click "Keep changes" to apply the selected orientation 

Important Notes

  • Screen rotation is more common on touchscreen devices or laptops with rotating displays.
  • On most desktop computers, this feature may be limited or disabled.
  • If your screen rotates unexpectedly, you can quickly fix it using the Display orientation setting.
