Below are the reasons why we may not give club delivery numbers on a Trackman unit.
- Impact position: The ball is struck too close or too far from the unit.
- Optimal distance is 7–9 ft (2.1–2.75 m) from Trackman to impact.
- The blue box on screen is a helpful guide, but correct distance (7–9 ft) is critical for accurate club data.
- Lateral misalignment: The ball is struck too far left or right of the unit.
- Club type:
- Blades reflect weaker radar signals compared to cavity-back clubs.
- Short irons: With a smash factor close to 1.0, club and ball travel at nearly the same speed, making it difficult to measure club right after impact.
- Miss-hits: Low smash factor caused by poor contact can prevent accurate readings.
- Surface conditions:
- Shots hit directly off turf can produce divots that cause radar noise.
- Try using a golf mat instead (most common issue outdoors).
- Low club speed:
- Example: If driver speed is 45 mph and smash factor is 1.45, ball speed will be ~65 mph.
- With only a 20 mph difference, it may be difficult to identify impact location, similar to the short iron issue.
