This guide will inform you on information relating to the battery of your unit, as well as guide you through steps to help fix battery life issues.
General Information on a TM4's Battery
- The TM4 battery life is generally between 3 to 5 hours when fully charged.
- Battery capacity in TM4 is about 85Wh – 10.4Ah at 7.2V nominal
- Minimum input voltage for charging is probably about 8 Volts, but this is not something we have tested thoroughly
- Maximum safe input voltage is about 20 Volts
- Under 12V charging voltage, it is rated to 2A external PSU – charging will take longer
- Above 12V charging voltage, it is rated to 3.4A external PSU
If you want to maximize the capacity and longevity of the battery, it's best practice to use it down to 20% and charge to 80%. However, there are no significant battery life reductions of having it plugged in at all time - keeping it at 100%. When the unit is powered off the blinking light indicates the remaining battery and is negligible power consumption, using less power than the internal clock unit.
