Error Messages | A Software Component Was Not Configured Correctly

If you encounter an error message in TPS stating that a software component could not be configured correctly (error code 1), you will need to reconfigure the firewall settings as explained in the steps below.

Until you do so, you will not be able to continue using the unit.

To reconfigure the firewall settings, you will need to first create a Windows Defender Exception for TPS and secondly turn off smart app control. Please see the instructions below.

Step 1: Create a Windows Defender Exception

  1. Start by opening "Virus & threat protection" from the Windows search bar

Step 2: Turn Off Smart App Control

Smart App Control (SAC) is a security feature in Windows 11 designed to help protect your computer by blocking apps that may pose security risks. In some cases, it may also prevent trusted applications—such as TPS—from running.

If you choose to turn off Smart App Control, your system will continue to be protected by built-in Windows security features, including Microsoft Defender and other standard protections.

  1. Open "Smart App Control" from the start menu
  2. Choose "Off"

You may be asked to confirm with administrator permissions.

The error message should now be resolved. If the issue persists, please reach out to Trackman Support by submitting a support ticket here.
